Lot Essay

James Winter established his business in 1823 which was continued under his son until 1870.He described himself as a 'Broker,Licensed Appraiser & Undertaker,dealer in every description of second-hand household furniture'.He was a retailer and not a cabinet-maker but regularly identified his stock with his stamp.
