AN ARAB GOLD-MOUNTED SWORD
MID-20TH CENTURY
With 19th century watered blade, the hilt with silvered iron guard with gilt bud-shaped tips and applied with a gilt flowerhead cartouche on both sides, gold pommel chased with foliage, the grip overlaid with gold filigree strips, bound with gold wire and fitted with ivory scales retained by gold-capped pins, in its original scabbard with decorated large gold mounts, the locket cut with a brief inscription and dated 1370 AH (circa 1951 AD).
