SECOND HALF OF THE 17TH CENTURY
With curved fullered blade double-edged towards the point, the leading edge waved, etched with figures from mythology and exotic birds on both sides at the forte, and struck with bladesmith's mark at the base (light pitting), iron hilt formed with a half-basket guard of slender faceted bars incorporating a double shell-guard finely pierced with interlace (the outer shell extensively damaged), faceted pommel, and the grip bound with patterned brass wire.
