SECOND HALF OF THE 12TH / FIRST HALF OF THE 13TH CENTURY
In excavated condition, with double-edged blade, the outer face inscribed 'In Nomine Domini' ('In the name of the Lord') three times in copper Roman letters within the long fuller and the inscriptions punctuated by four crosses potent inlaid in brass, the inner face inlaid with a single cross potent, slender crosspiece of rectangular section tapering to narrow tips, boat-shaped pommel, and the tang retaining an early wood fragment.
