Lot Essay

The view here is taken from an upper window at Charleston looking over the pond and across the fields to Tilton. The telephone was installed at Charleston in April 1939 (much to Vanessa Bell's regret), as a branch line, as it were, from the telephone already installed by Maynard Keynes at Tilton.
