A massive Chinese Longquan celadon charger
Early Ming dynasty, 15th Century
Heavily potted and fluidly carved in the centre with a large lotus blossom supported on a curved stalk with sinuous, curling leafy tendrils, the well carved with lotus-sprays, covered with a glaze of rich olive-green tone continuing over the foot, the convex base with a broad unglazed circle burnt orange in the firing, rim star crack
50 cm. diam.
