The 'flap-aan-de-wand' was an integral part of the Hindeloopen interior as early as the 17th and 18th Century. This three-legged table with a flap-top can be stored away against the wall in the upright position, when not in use. The top of the table is put against the wall showing the underside of the table which is usually extensively decorated with actanthus scrolls, a central bibilical scene, initials and date.
