A Staffordshire Imari armorial part dinner service
Probably circa 1860, marked A. Brothers, Stoke-on-Trent
Painted and gilt with floral branches around the rims, reserved with a medallion enclosing a dove holding an olive-branch in its beak, six Stars of David beneath a ribbon inscibed in Hebrew emet ve-emunah and below ve-chazon, the coat-of-arms of the Sassoon family (lacking on the serving dishes), comprising: an oval serving dish, 30.5 cm. wide; an oval serving dish, 44.7 cm. wide; six soup plates, 26 cm. diam.; twelve dinner plates, 24.4 cm. diam.; six luncheon plates, 24.5 cm. diam.; a pair of oval side dishes, 21 cm. wide; a pair of oval dishes on a pedestal, 29.8 cm. wide; an oval dish on a pedestal with cover, 29.4 cm. wide; five crescent-shaped side dishes, 23.7 cm. wide, cracks, chips and frits (36)
