Lot Essay

An identical wax model of this group was exhibited at the Paris Salon of 1869 as number 3591.
Another identical cast of this model was exhibited at the Paris Salon of 1870 as number 4732 and at the Exposition Universelle, centennale de l'art français de 1800 à 1899, 1900, Paris, as number 1733. This bronze is now in the musée du Louvre, département des Sculptures.
