Messrs Longman and Broderip, whose partnership flourished from 1776 to 1798, contracted much of their instrument making to craftsmen such as Baker Harris and Thomas Culliford. The latter signed a related instrument, which bears the date 1780 and was exhibited at the International Inventions Exhibition, London, 1885 (see J. Nex, Culliford and Company: Keyboard Instrument Maker in Georgian London, Early Keyboard Journal 22 (2004) pp.7-47).

The actress Olga Nethersole (1870-1957) made her stage debut in 1887 and went into management leasing the Royal Court Theatre, London, in 1894.
