Tapering cylindrical and on spreading gadrooned foot, with spiral- fluted lower body and two beaded handles, the detachable cover with acorn finial, later engraved with a coat-of-arms, the base later engraved with initials, marked underneath and inside cover

The lozenge-of-arms are those of FitzHerbert with Bagshawe in pretence, for Rachel FitzHerbert (d. 1762), widow of William FitzHerbert of Tissington (d. 1739), whom she had married in 1709, and daughter and eventual heir of Thomas Bagshaw of Bakewell and Ridge, Derbyshire.
