Barbu, de longs cheveux retombant sur ses épaules, son casque orné de plumes, portant une cape sur un corselet, de trois-quarts face, la tête légèrement tournée vers la droite; dans une monture ovale en or, sur un fond rectangulaire incrusté de corail et de pierres dures, enchâssé dans un cadre rectangulaire associé en ébène avec ornementation de bronze ciselé et doré

A CARVED OVAL CORAL CAMEO BUST OF A WARRIOR, PROBABLY MARS
19TH CENTURY
Bearded, long hair falling down to his shoulders, his helmet crested with feathers, wearing a cloak over corselet, facing three quarters towards the front, head turned slightly to the right; in an oval gold mount applied to a rectangular ground inlaid with coral and hardstone, within an associated ormolu-mounted rectangular ebony frame with suspension loop
Admired by ninetenth century women, following the fashion set by the Empress Josephine, on account of the beautiful colour, coral was prized even more when carved into cameos.
