Hercule tourné vers la gauche et tenant le lion par les bras, sa massue déposée entre les pieds; dans une monture ovale en or, appliquée sur un fond d'agate tigrée, enchâssé dans un cadre associé circulaire en ébène, à décor ajouré en émail

Hercules facing left and grasping the lion with his arms, his club lying between his feet; in an oval gold mount applied to a foiled banded agate ground, within an associated circular ebony frame with enamelled openwork decoration

According to Ingrid Weber (Geschnittene Steine des 18. bis 20. Jahrhunderts, Munich, 1995, no. 329) a paste cameo of this subject can be attributed to either Antonio Pichler or his son Giovanni.
