Les cheveux noués au-dessus du front, de longues boucles retombant au-dessous des épaules, le cou souligné d'une étoffe, le regard frontal, la tête légèrement tournée vers la droite; dans une monture ovale en or décorée de rubis et d'émeraudes, maintenue par des griffes sur un fond ovale en ébène, enchâssé dans un cadre associé octogonal en ébène et bronze doré

17TH OR 18TH CENTURY
Her hair tied in a knot above the brow, with long curls falling down below her shoulders, draped neckline, facing front, head turned slightly to the right; in an oval gold mount embellished with rubies and emeralds, secured by claws to an oval ebony ground, within an associated octagonal ormolu-mounted ebony frame

Pour un buste identique bien que d'époque postérieure, identifié comme étant Thalia, muse de la Comédie - d'après la tête de la statue en marbre antique conservée à la Sala delle Muse au Vatican - voir J. Draper, Cameo Appearances, (Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, 2008, p. 42, no. 92).
