Lot Essay

A bowl with this shipping decoration from the Mottahedeh collection is illustrated by Howard & Ayers, op. cit., p. 224, and was sold Sotheby's, New York, 30 January 1985, lot 135; another in the Garbisch collection was sold Sotheby's, Pokety Farms, Maryland, 22-23 May, 1980.
