Lot Essay

Henri Louis Levasseur (1853-1934) exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français where he won the first class medal in 1898. The statue "L'Etoile du berger" was executed in plaster in 1894 and later cast in bronze without any foundry mark. (P. Kjellberg, Les Bronzes du XIXe Siècle, Paris, 1989, p. 437)
