14K; the punch pot squat circular, engraved on one side with a presentation inscription, GALLANT FOX HANDICAP 1953 won by ROYAL VALE on the other side engraved with a coat-of-arms; the circular stand and spoon with conforming coat-of-arms, all marked on reverse, the pot marked XGBF, the salver XGBH, the spoon XGBG; with fitted leather case

Lot Essay

Esther du Pont Weir owned Royal Vale and Royal Governor, who won the trophies in the present and subsequent lot. Royal Vale, foaled in 1948 by Kingsway out of Cora Deans, earned $275,690 in a 15-win career.
