Each wearing the Star of the Order of the Garter Star, Albert also wearing the Star of the Legion d'Honneur, and the badge of the Spanish Order of the Golden Fleece, each stamped to reverse BROWN, WESTHEAD, MOORE & Co, the bust of Victoria signed 'J. Durham Sc OSBORNE 1855'

Lot Essay

J. Durham exhibited a bust of Queen Victoria at the Royal Academy in 1856, commissioned for the Guildhall and may relate to the present model.
Prince Albert was created a Knight of the Order of the Garter in 1839 and of the Order of the Golden Fleece in 1841.
