The case with caddy top hood with blind fret to the front, decorated with figures of Chinese huntsmen to its arch, with pilasters to the angles and rectangular glazed side panels, the rectangular trunk door decorated with chinoiserie figures and pagodas, with glass lenticle, with cyma moulding above skirted plinth, the 12 in. wide brass dial with foliate and mask spandrels to engraved Roman and Arabic chapter ring with fleur-de-lys half hour markers and diamond half quarter hour markers, the matted centre with scroll and flowering engraving to the date square, flowerhead engraving to the winding holes and star engraved centre to the subsidiary seconds, wheatear engraved border to the arch with foliate and dolphin spandrels flanking engraved convex roundel signed 'John/Hodges/London', blued steel hands, the movement with five ring-turned pillars, anchor escapement and rack strike on bell; pendulum
