LATE 19TH EARLY 20TH CENTURY, PROBABLY GOA
The rectangular top with a gadrooned edge and lotus leaf-carved frieze concealing rosewood-lined drawers, the pedestals with panels of radiating reeding to all four sides, each centred by a coat of arms within leaf and rosette borders, one enclosing four drawers and the other nine drawers, each with white painted lettering, with foliate carved aprons on spirally-turned legs headed by blocks with further coats of arms and joined by spirally-turned stretchers, inscribed in white paint to underside G.E B, one drawer lock stamped 'NO 6639 1910/CHUBB'S PATENT SPRINGLESS LOCK'
32 in. (81 cm.) high; 78 in. (198 cm.) wide; 30½ in. (77 cm.) deep
Provenance
George Elliott Browning who reputedly lived in Goa at the end of the 19th century.
