The overhanging moulded cornice with indented corners, above a plain frieze and a pair of doors carved with arched panels headed by rockwork, C-scrolls and foliage, above smaller panels with rounded corners carved with rockwork, enclosing a plain interior flanked and divided by panelled pilasters carved with rockwork and C-scrolls, on a moulded plinth and bun feet, restorations

Lot Essay

The subtle rocaille carving of this armoire is closely related to that on a similar piece, which is illustrated in J. Philippe's Le Meuble Liégeois à son âge d'or, Liège, 1990, p.102.
