Lot Essay

Born at Dol (Ille-et-Viliane) Cabié began his successful artistic career by studying under the great Barbizon painter Harpignies and later with Pradelles. At the age of 34 he exhibited for the first time at the Salon des Artistes Français and continued to show there throughout his life, during the course of which he won several medals and honours, including the accolade of Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur. His works can be found in museums in Alençon, Angers, Chambéry, Cognac, Paris and Perigueux.
