Previously thought to be by Tommaso Maria Conca (1734-1822) due to an inscription on the verso of the second drawing in this lot, and on another drawing by the same hand of Gideon gathering his army in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York (inv. 61.5.1). While probably related to a decorative painting cycle, these drawings seem to be earlier.
