The contents of the piano nobile had remained practically untouched since the 19th century. The cool Neo-classical colours and geometric forms of the suites of seat- furniture and console tables, some still with remnants of the vibrant yellow silk and cut velvet upholstery, complemented perfectly the damask silk lined walls and painted stucco ceilings evoking the lavish lifestyle and taste of the 19th century Italian aristocracy. The names of the craftsmen and designers have recently been discovered behind a tapesty hanging llustrated below
