Lot Essay

This drawing relates to the artist's full-scale oil painting Grey Wash Forms, painted in 1936 (Museum of Fine Arts, Boston).
The inscription on the reverse of the drawing refers to sculptor Mary Callery, a close friend of the artist. Callery created a sculpture portrait of O'Keeffe in the 1940s.
