The daughter of the painter, Lavinia, holding a tray of fruit

The original, on canvas, 102 x 82 cm, executed circa 1555, has been in the Staatliche Museen, Berlin, since 1832 (H.E.Wethey, The Paintings of Titian, 1971, II p.115, n^o60, plate 191). The girl is traditionally identified as the Titian's daughter, Lavinia, based on comparison of a portrait claimed to be Lavinia as a bride (Wethey, n^o59). The tray of fruit suggests the possibility that the girl figures as Pomona.
