Lot Essay

The sitter of the present portrait is unknown, however it has been suggested that it may be a depiction of Lady Mary Drummond (d.1712), daughter of the staunch Jacobite, 4th Earl of Perth and Lord Chancellor of Scotland and wife of William, 9th Earl Marischal.
