Considering its provenance, it is likely this impressive table was made in Scotland. The scrolled front legs relate to a pair of rosewood side tables supplied to George Home (1747-1820) for Paxton House, Berwickshire, by William Trotter (d. 1833) in 1814 at a cost of £20 10s. 0d. each.
