With lacquer case fitted with six interior drawers to hold the volumes and decorated on the exterior with Genji book covers, two illustrated with episodes from the Butterflies (Kocho) and First Warbler (Hatsune) chapters, others with chapter titles and on the drawers with titles of each chapter of The Tale of Genji in gold and silver hiramaki-e, takamaki-e, nashiji and hirame on a roiro-nuri ground, the faces of drawers in gold hiramaki-e; edges lacquered with gold butterfly and chrysanthemum crests (55)
