TWO WHITE JADE PENDANTS
18TH/19TH CENTURY
One carved with a phoenix perched on one foot and with head turned back to look at the sun, the reverse with a raised four-character inscription reading zhi ri gao sheng (expressing a wish for speedy promotion), the top carved with a pair of confronted phoenixes, their long tails extending down along the edges; the other pendant carved with a qilin shown seated on its haunches with head turned back, the reverse carved with a two-character inscription in seal script reading fu (good fortune) and shou (longevity), the top carved with vaporous clouds and pierced for suspension, both pendants carved from translucent stone of even white tone
