A RARE BRONZE GE-HALBERD BLADE
LATE SHANG/EARLY WESTERN ZHOU DYNASTY, 11TH CENTURY BC
The tapering blade cast in relief on each side with a double median ridge issuing from a taotie mask cast in high relief which has a pair of bottle horns flanking a cicada that project away from the surface of the blade, the tang pierced with a hole below a taotie mask cast in intaglio on the flared hilt, the mottled grey and milky green patina with some malachite and ferrous encrustation and traces of cinnabar
