A RARE ALTERED JADE GE-HALBERD BLADE
SHANG DYNASTY, CIRCA 1200 BC
The blade with median ridge extending to the tip and beveled edges extending from notched flanges joined by narrow grooved bands and a band of incised criss-cross decoration to where the blade begins to taper to a point, the narrower tang with a hole pierced from one side between grooved borders and with a tiny conical hole near the edge, the greyish-green stone now almost completely altered to buff color and with traces of cinnabar, bronze accretions and fabric impressions
