TWO THICK JADE DAGGER-FORM PENDANTS
SHANG DYNASTY, 11TH CENTURY BC
One in the shape of a tapering blade carved in low relief with a band of pendent blades below an incised herringbone border issuing from the jaws of a bottle horn dragon shown in profile, its curled tail with a biconical hole, the opaque stone of pale grey-green and buff color; the other in the shape of a blade with median rib on each of the convex sides and raised outer edges leading to the pointed tip, all issuing from a bottle horn taotie mask carved in linear relief on each side, with a biconical hole in the tang, the somewhat translucent stone of grey-green color with striations of opaque buff color
