THREE AGATE RINGS AND A WHITE JADE ROPE-TWIST RING, YUAN
EASTERN ZHOU DYNASTY, 4TH-3RD CENTURY BC
All of the agate rings tapering from the faceted inner edge to the thin outer edge and polished to a high gloss, two with banded inclusions of various shades of reddish orange and greyish white color, the third of moss agate with green moss-like inclusions; the white jade ring somewhat flattened and carved in the round with spiraled rope-twist pattern
Agate rings 2 to 2 5/8 in. (5.1 to 6.7 cm.) diam.; jade ring 2 5/16 in. (5.9 cm.) diam. (4)

Several agate rings and a jade ropetwist ring of similar type to the present examples are illustrated in Chugoku Sengoku jidai no bijutsu (The Art of the Warring States Period), Osaka Municipal Museum of Fine Art, 1991, pp. 160-1, nos. 277 (jade ropetwist rings) and 278-81 (various kinds of agate rings).
