A WELL-CARVED TRANSLUCENT PALE GREYISH-YELLOW AND BROWN JADE BI
LATE EASTERN ZHOU/WESTERN HAN DYNASTY, 3RD-2ND CENTURY BC
Both sides carved with a pattern of faceted bosses within an hexagonal grid set between a slightly canted plain inner border and a similarly plain outer border, the semi-translucent stone with two areas of dark brown coloring at the outer edges and some dark brown inclusions throughout, with fine, high polish
3 11/16 in. (9.4 cm.) diam.
