A SMALL THREE-COLOR CARVED LACQUER CIRCULAR DISH
WANLI SIX-CHARACTER GILT-FILLED MARK CARVED IN A LINE AND OF THE PERIOD (1573-1619)
With shallow rounded sides, the center carved through the red and dark green layers to the dark ochre ground with a scholar shown lying in a relaxed position on a promontory while overseen by two attendants, one holding a fan, with roof tops visible amidst trees and rocks below, all below a band of leafy flower meander in the well, the exterior with a band of flowers and froth-capped waves above a band of key fret encircling the foot, the mark carved in a line in the center of the red-lacquered base
