The protruding top frame with beaded, rounded edges supported on corner posts of rounded square section framing the panel doors, opening to reveal the interior with three shelves, all above a plain apron and apron-head spandrels on the front and sides

Compare a pair of huanghuali tapered cabinets illustrated by G.W. Bruce, Dreams of Chu Tan Chamber and the Romance with Huanghuali Wood: The Dr. S.Y. Yip Collection of Classic Chinese Furniture, Hong Kong, 1991, pp. 120-3, no. 47. Although dated to the 16th-17th century, the form compares quite favorably with both the illustrated examples and the present lot lacking central removable stiles.
