Each with rounded sides, covered inside and out with a glaze of deep bluish-purple color falling to the edge of the ring foot

John Ayers illustrates a similar bowl in The Baur Collection, vol. III, Geneva, 1972, no. A 474, where he proposes that "the occurence of the K'ang hsi reign mark on finely-made bowls and dishes having this rich purple glaze points to the likelihood of their having been made for Court use."
