AN UNUSUAL LARGE PAIR OF JADE AND HARDSTONE LOTUS PLANTS IN PAINTED ENAMEL JARDINIERES

Each jardiniére painted with butterflies flitting amidst various flowers and fruits reserved on a turquoise ground, the interior fitted with an insert carved to imitate rippling water from which rise the long silk-wrapped stems of lotus and sagittaria plants carved from jadeite, green and white jade, agate and rose quartz, both with a yellow jade egret standing in the 'water', one with a grey agate bird perched on a leaf stem, and the other with a dragonfly
