Of pear shape with long, tapered neck rising to the flared mouth rim, covered overall with a finely crackled glaze of bright green tone continuing to the edge of the foot, the base left unglazed

Lot Essay

Compare a similar vase of slightly larger size (51.1 cm.) with bulbous mouth, also dated to the Sui dynasty, sold in these rooms, 18 September 2003, lot 205.

The result of Oxford Authentication Ltd. thermoluminescence test number P103g2 is consistent with the dating of this lot.
