A bronze figure of Padmapani
Northeastern India, Pala Period, 12th century
Standing over a double-lotus base with beaded rims, his right hand lowered in abhaya mudra and his left hand clutching a lotus stem, wearing a short dhoti incised with striations and stippled patterns and secured by a belt with beaded festoons, the hair piled into a high chignon and secured with a tiara tied with ribbons, a thick lock falling on either shoulder, flanked by two tall flowerheads issuing from the base
