A bronze figure of Vairocana
Northeastern India, 11th/12th century
Seated in dhyanasana on a triangular shaped double-lotus base with a chakra flanked by two deer incised on the front, his hands in dharmachakra mudra, clad in a thin dhoti with borders inlaid with copper, a necklace heavy with pendant jewels inlaid with silver tied around his neck, his peaceful face with eyes and lips also inlaid in silver, his tightly knotted hair and pronounced ushnisha secured with a foliate tiara and ribbons billowing to either side
