A gilt bronze figure of Vairocana
Tibet, 13th century
Seated in dhyanasana on a double-lotus base with beaded rims, his hands in dharmachakra mudra with stippled chakras on his palms and soles, clad in a close-fitting dhoti with incised hems, adorned with various jewelry inlaid with large hardstones, his serene face centered by a raised urna, his hair in wavy locks piled into a high chignon surmounted by a pointed finial and secured by a tiara with sashes billowing to the sides
