Lot Essay

The mounts and model of the present guéridon relate closely to Linke's index number 105 and, to a lesser extent, number 461. Index number 105 was produced in varying combinations of woods, marquetry and marble tops, and in three sizes - 60, 75 and 90 cm. diameter. An example of the 90 cm. diameter table, signed by Linke and with identical marquetry, was sold in these rooms, 19 March 2008, lot 99 (£23,300). Please see lots 117 and 174 for notes on Linke and Sormani respectively.
