According to inscriptions on the reverse, the present portrait belonged to a George Harnage, 1st Bt. In 1821, George Blackman (1767-1836) was styled as Sir George Harnage upon inheriting the baronetcy of Belleswardine, Shropshire. George Harnage, 2nd Bt., was a Commander in the Royal Navy at Leighton, Shropshire.
