with inscription 'Bellurdine 1670' (lower right) and with further inscriptions 'King Charles 2d 1668/Sir George Harmage. Baronet 1st/at Belleurdine/this 17 th day August.1822/For George Harnage. Baronet 2nd Belluerdine/this January 3rd 1845' (on the reverse)

According to inscriptions on the reverse, the present portrait belonged to a George Harnage, 1st Bt. In 1821, George Blackman (1767-1836) was styled as Sir George Harnage upon inheriting the baronetcy of Belleswardine, Shropshire. George Harnage, 2nd Bt., was a Commander in the Royal Navy at Leighton, Shropshire.
