Lot Essay

Evelyn Silber has stated that, as well as those referenced in her catalogue, there were further nude studies 'exhibited at Leicester Galleries in 1947 but since they were neither reproduced nor described they cannot be identified' (see The Sculpture of Epstein, Oxford, 1986, p. 194).
