Please note that the watercolour was included in an exhibition at the British museum entitled Edward Falkener, a Victorian Orientalist which took place, without a catalogue, 16 January - 2nd May 1999.

拍品專文

Falkener's paintings were not limited to quick observational sketches. He also produced more finished watercolours, as seen in the current work. In 1849, when Falkener returned to London after his travels, he devoted considerable time to making drawings for the restoration of ancient buildings. A selection of his drawings were exhibited at the Universal Exhibition in Paris of 1855, where they were awarded a grand medal of honour.
