Lot Essay

Dust Muhammad was a famous scribe, painter and illuminator of Shah Tahmasp's period who worked in the Royal Library. In 1544, he compiled the famous album of calligraphy and painting for the Safavid prince Bahram Mirza album now in the Topkapi. His recorded works are dated between AH 938/1531-2 AD and AH 972/1564-5 AD making this calligraphic panel the earliest recorded.
