Lot Essay

The design and its overall shape suggest that this cabinet was made in the vicinity of Braunschweig, as the typical inlaid panels found on the doors can be related to similar work executed in Braunschweig during the 1750's.
Comparable pieces are illustrated in H. Kreisel, Die Kunst des deutschen Möbels, Vol. II, München, 1970, ill. 875-879.
