Lot Essay

Unlike many other Dutch chairs this is a purely Dutch design with no direct French or English influences but rather a mix of both. A related chair with similar basic outline but with a more refined finish and varying in decoration is illustrated in R. Baarsen et al. Rococo in Nederland, cat.no. 169, pp. 271-272.
